Why Coachability Beats Experience in Real Estate

Coachability Beats Experience

Coachability will beat experience every single time.

Give me an agent who's willing to learn, willing to be coached, willing to be held accountable, and committed to being a lifetime learner, and I'll put them up against almost any "experienced" agent.

One thing I've noticed over the years is that some seasoned agents love to remind everyone they've been licensed for 20 or 30 years. Experience certainly has value. But experience by itself doesn't guarantee results.

What they often fail to recognize is that the younger agent they're talking down to has been investing in coaching, practicing scripts, studying the market, tracking their numbers, and improving every single day. In many cases, that newer agent sold more homes in the last 12 months than the veteran sold over several years.

That's not disrespecting experience. It's recognizing that growth doesn't happen automatically with time. Growth happens through intentional learning.

The real estate industry changes constantly. Contracts change. Technology changes. Consumer expectations change. Markets shift. If you're relying on what worked 10 years ago, you're already behind.

The agents who win are the ones who stay curious. They ask questions. They accept feedback. They make adjustments. They don't let their ego get in the way of getting better.

I've coached agents with only a year or two in the business who have built incredible careers because they were teachable. I've also seen agents with decades of experience stay exactly where they are because they believed they had nothing left to learn.

Never underestimate the power of coaching. Never confuse time served with mastery.

Coachability isn't a weakness. It's a competitive advantage. And over the long run, it almost always wins
